Meet @Unalison

I met Alison for the first time on a Blissdom Canada panel in 2010. I was super nervous. She put me at ease right away. A real pro she was.  I was blown away by how smart she was – that girl knows how to manage her money (at the time she handled all her own accounting for her business).
Fast forward a few years later and we got re-connected and I am glad we did.
We had a fabulous conversation on the phone about why she and Scott wrote their latest book UnSales.  Her weekly podcasts were certainly a starting point for this book.
Great conversations about customer expectations and big misses are the fabric of the Unpodcast show.
The show makes me laugh – it is like a really good biz reality sitcom (very un Donald Trumpish … thank god).
No dry droning on. Just intelligent and funny conversation where I constantly learn something new.
If you are a podcast newbie you gotta check it out. You will get hooked and then want to read their books – which of course includes their new book UnSelling.

This book which…. ( disclaimer – I have not read yet) examines  three important elements:

Content, connection, engagement. With of course, a killer good product or service that comes with amazing customer service.

Gold Coins and plant isolated on white background5 ways to #Unsell:

  1. Businesses can build trust with their market online by creating and facilitating community around their product.
  2. Trusted referrals are the most valuable tools for UnSelling. When customers pass through your funnel ?they don?t just go live on some desert island somewhere (unless of course you sell desert islands) they go back into the mix. Where they share their experiences and stories.
  3. 60% of all purchases are made before people come in contact with your traditional sales funnel.
  4. We don’t trust commercials. We trust people.
  5. Make a good product. Stand behind it. Treat customers well. @LisLannin

2014-09-18_1204About Alison and Scott:

Scott Stratten and Alison Kramer are cohosts of not only The UnPodcast, but five children, two dogs and two cats. This is their fourth best-selling book together, which represent
their thoughts on the changing world of business through their experiences of entrepreneurship, two degrees (Alison), not lasting long asan employee (both) and screaming at audiences around the world (Scott, Alison is more polite). They were put on this earth to remind the world that not all Canadians are passively polite. Businesses like PepsiCo,
Saks Fifth Avenue, Cirque du Soleil and others have been brave enough to want their advice, to the point that Scott has been named one of the Top 5 Social Media Influencers in the
world by Forbes.com. They now spend their time keynoting around the world and realize they rank 10th and 11th in order of importance in their home.

UnSelling: The New Customer Experience

Come check out the pre-order promo page!

UnSelling is about everything but the sell. We put all of our focus on the individual purchase transaction, while putting the rest of our business actions second. We’ve become blind to customer service, support, branding, experiences and even product quality. 60% of a purchasing decision is made before a customer even contacts you. We have funnel vision, and it needs to stop.Unselling is about the big picture: creating repeat customers, not one-time buyers. Create loyal clients that refer others, not faceless numbers. Becoming the go-to company for something, before they even need you.

You don’t need social media, but you can be connecting with your clients socially. Your video doesn’t have to be viral in front of a million people, just contagious in front of your specific market. Content, connection, engagement. It’s time to separate from the pack of noise. It’s time to UnSel
