Gillian Barth
President and CEO
CARE Canada
Ms. Barth has more than 30 years experience in the field of global development and relief, specializing in program and human resources. She has had leadership roles in international development, human resources, and program research and management.
She has worked with CARE for over 20 years, serving from 2011 to 2013 as its Executive Vice-President. Since joining CARE in 1991 as a manager of the Latin America program, she has served in progressively senior management positions in a wide range of programs, including water, health and environment, resource development, monitoring, human resources and external relations.
Tell us about your business
Our story began in 1945, when CARE first came together to support populations in Europe devastated by the Second World War. Over the years, CARE’s work has grown to address a changing world.
CARE Canada’s mission is to serve individuals and families in the poorest communities in the world. Drawing strength from our global diversity, resources and experience, we promote innovative solutions and are advocates for global responsibility. We facilitate lasting change by:
- strengthening capacity for self-help
- providing economic opportunity
- delivering relief in emergencies
- influencing policy decisions at all levels
- addressing discrimination in all its forms
How are you hoping to connect with conference attendees?
I would like to network and learn more about businesses that might be interested in marshaling innovative solutions in the fight against poverty.
What advice would you give conference attendees?
- Get involved.
- Look for opportunities to inspire lasting change.
- Remember that all women are entitled to equal rights, wherever they live.
