Meet our #ThriveinmyLife Mentor Brenda
Medicine Song Woman Brenda MacIntyre, author of the Medicine Song Oracle Cards™, is a goosebump-giving Juno Award-winning singer, speaker, spiritual teacher and indigenous shaman.
After many years of being terrified of being seen and heard, and suppressing her spiritual gifts, Brenda is passionate about helping spiritual women trailblazers to stop holding back who they really are, amplify their voice, and show up in life and business with the POWER they were created to express.
Painfully shy and introverted into her teens, Brenda let her passion for singing lead her onto the stage and by the age of 20 she was on Top 40 Radio in Miami.
Brenda has shared her magic, laughter, leadership and soul on MuchMusic, APTN, CTV, CP24, Global and CityTV’s Breakfast Television. Her music has been featured on CBC and hundreds of other radio stations, garnering top ten status multiple times.
Hidden behind Brenda’s enigmatic success was a cycle of toxic relationships that landed her in an Aboriginal healing lodge, where a Navajo medicine woman recognized Brenda as a healer. Since then, Brenda’s mentorship, shamanic healing, speaking and singing has helped thousands of women around the world to amplify their voice and the power of who they are.
Tell us about your business
From rap artist in the 80’s to reggae singer in the 90’s to shaman and drummer in the 2000’s. That’s been my journey. I’m Medicine Song Woman, author of the Medicine Song Oracle Cards™. I’m a Juno Award-winning singer, speaker, spiritual teacher and indigenous shaman. I used to be painfully shy and introverted, but my passion for singing led me onto the stage anyway, at the age of 17. It was the start of my journey of finding my voice and healing from my fear of being seen and heard. I went from my first awkward stage appearance in a tiny bar in a village in BC to Top 40 Radio in Miami, and being featured on local and national TV stations like MuchMusic, APTN, CTV, CP24, Global and CityTV’s Breakfast Television. But in all of this, my personal life was a mess. I had no sense of belonging or identity and after losing my parents suddenly one after the other, I had spiralled into a cycle of toxic relationships. My confidence was shot. Finally, years later, I was led to an indigenous women’s healing lodge, where my healing journey began and my spiritual calling awakened. Now, my gift is to help spiritual women on the leading edge to stop holding back who they really are, amplify their voice, and show up with the POWER they were created to express.
What advice would you give conference attendees?
My motto is “I only do what I FEEL like doing.” If I’m not feeling aligned with something, I don’t do it. If it’s something I really have to do, I get myself into a state of feeling like doing it first, and then I do it. Also, PLAY. Just play more! The result? Productivity and Focus are through the roof. I’m happy. My work feels like play. I’m making the same or better income by mindfully “procrastinating” and making my yesses and no’s count.
