Have your pen and paper ready for Sherri Rossi‘s session on Sexing Up Your Social Media.  A trainer by profession this lady is on fire in front of a crowd! Warning – only listen if you want to learn something useful and exciting.

1. Tell us about your business.

Findability Solutions, Inc. is a Social Search Marketing company.  We started in early 2009 with the concept of helping small to medium business owners with the Optimization of their websites or, in other words, helping the business to be "findable".  Since then, we have grown to provide additional services such as WordPress website creation, Social Media campaign management and Social Media training in both organizations and the community.  We still believe that empowering our clients to be autonomous in their own right is our responsibility.  Therefore, we help with the initial creation and set up of the above and then educate our clients to use the tools themselves.

2. Other than being an entrepreneur, who are you? Tell us about yourself.

First and foremost I am a mom to two beautiful and wonderfully energetic children, 7yrs old and 3yrs old.  I have chosen to be a stay at home mompreneur because I don’t want to miss a single second of their "formative" years.  I am a wife, sister, daughter and friend to many  (thanks in part to Social Media!). My background is in Human Resources and I have recently begun to do some consulting again.  I am realizing now how much I missed that part of  my life and I am so joyful to be able to do this on a part time basis while maintaining my business.  I have recently returned to tap dancing (and do some major hi-hop style boogying when no-one is looking). I love to read and I volunteer with the Halton School board to coach children through their reading difficulties.  What else can I say, I love my family, I love networking and I love my business. No part of my life feels like a chore…oh, accept cleaning my house! 😉

3. What motivated you to go into business for yourself?

Well, my husband has always had an entrepreneurial spirit so he wanted to start Findability Solutions, Inc. with a little help from me.  I planned on returning full time to the Human Resources field when my son turned 2. However, we discovered the importance (and fun) of Social Media so I decided to stay home and invest my time into the kids and the business.  It has been such a fun and educational journey and I am excited by the new experiences and connections that happen every day.

4. How do you overcome challenges and obstacles in your business?

Well, I think the secret for us has been to take everything one step at a time.  There are so many obstacles as an entrepreneur that, if you constantly think of the entire basket of issues you carry around at one time, you might as well give up! Being open to educating yourself and creating meaningful partnerships also help with the problem of wearing a million hats at once!

5. What are your greatest strengths as an entrepreneur?

I think one of my strengths is the ability to look at every situation with a sense of humour and a warmth that makes others feel comfortable.  I am also so grateful for my ability to educate and communicate with people at varying levels of expertise.  I would say I have lots of weaknesses too but I’m working on them (or partnering up with people who already rock!)!
