As a business owner, you must always stay in touch with your clients and staff. Nowadays, there are so many different ways to communicate with one another—email, talking, texting, not to mention the myriad of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
Well, I’m about to throw another contender into the ring. Meet HeyTell.
HeyTell is a cross platform mobile app that takes talking and voicemail to a whole other level. It essentially turns your smartphone into a voicemail walkie talkie. It’s text messaging, but without the typing! Who doesn’t love that?!
Just record a message and it will be instantly sent to the other party. The recipient can choose to listen to the message whenever they want. The sound quality of the messages for me have been crystal clear.
The app works over Wi-Fi or 3G. According to HeyTell, a message is about the size of an email, so although it will hit your data usage, it won’t hit too hard.
As a business owner, why would you want to use HeyTell?
- If you have a small team of mobile workers, HeyTell can send out group broadcasts (in-app purchase). One message delivered to multiple contacts can really come in handy.
- Message goes directly to voicemail. Reminds me of the corporate office voicemail system. Great for those days when you just don’t have the time (or desire) to talk to the overly chatty coworker or client.
- Saves on long distance charges. There are no long distance calling charges when you leave a message via HeyTell.
- Hear the underlying tone of the message. There is something to be said for recognizing the tone of the caller. This just doesn’t come across as clear in a text or email.
Currently, both iPhone and Android devices are supported. There’s talk about a Blackberry app, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
If you decide to download this app, don’t forget to turn the push notifications on so that you will be notified (like a text message) when you receive a HeyTell message.
Here’s a final tip. Don’t even think about calling in sick via HeyTell. That’s because it can share your location if you have the Maps app open and Location Services on.
You’ve been warned.
So, are you ready to open yourself up to yet another form of communication?
