SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSIONS & DIRECTORIES
There are many resources to help you with your website submission to search engines and directories. Below are some tips to help you get started.
- The Mashable article “140+ Search Engines & Directories’ not only lists multiple search engines, but organizes them into categories such as general information, human edited, book and library, business etc.
You can also do a google search for ‘free website search engine submission’ for links that will allow you to submit your site to multiple search engines at once.
Or, if you prefer, you can stick with some of the big ones.
- Do not submit your site to the same search engine more than once a month – they don’t like to be harassed. Keep a list of the search engines and directories that you submit to and when so that you can track your progress.
- Create a standard description of your site that is less than 200 words, the title of the site and categories for your site.
- DMOZ.org is the most important directory, and its’ content is used by almost all of the major search engines. For directions on how to submit to DMOZ,
